Position Summary

Vidant Medical Center and Maynard’s Children’s Hospital, located in Greenville, North Carolina, are seeking candidates for the role of Manager of Advance Practice. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Maynard Children's Hospital leadership and staff to develop and maintain efficient operations, promote positive relationships with organizational colleagues, and develop and implement strategic initiatives to ensure the delivery of care excellence and enhance the care experiences of patients and families. The Children’s Hospital AP Manager will be responsible for human resource management, program development, and fiscal oversight for both Advanced Practice Providers and the Children’s Transport Team with Maynard Children’s Hospital.


  • Lead a diverse group of APPs across Children’s Hospital including Newborn, Level II nursery, NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics
  • Responsible for maintaining operations of the Children’s Transport Team, a dedicated team of neonatal and pediatric flight nurses who transport patients to the facility by both air and ground. Oversight includes strong partnership and leadership collaboration with Eastcare, the air medical transport service for Vidant Health
  • Recruit, hire, develop, mentor, coach, and evaluate Advanced Practice Providers and transport staff
  • Explore and develop opportunities for potential for growth and expansion of services
  • Create an atmosphere of trust and camaraderie that promotes a healthy work environment and fosters retention of staff
  • Maintain 24 hour accountability for all program operations
  • Maintain fiscal accountability via sound budget development practices and effective management of budgets
  • Monitor productivity, ensuring adequate staffing for census and workload acuity
  • In collaboration with medical directors and Children's Hospital leadership, plan for capital expenditures and/or expansion of services
  • Ensure compliance with relevant practice and regulatory standards for all APP and transport staff
  • Lead, promote and participate in the formulation and implementation of quality improvement strategies and initiatives; monitors quality outcomes
  • Serve as change agent in departmental, divisional, and organizational transformations

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must be licensed as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina
  • Applicant must also possess a Masters Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant Studies
  • Active NP or PA Certification required with 3 or greater years of clinically relevant experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required
  • Two or greater years of progressive leadership demonstrated in the role of NP or PA provider required
  • Prior RN, NP or PA transport experience via both air and ground methods preferred
  • The applicant must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication, decision making, problem solving, negotiation, counseling, and teaching skills with an evidence of a participatory management style
