Position Summary

  • Assumes 24 hour accountability for assuring patient safety and quality of care.
  • Responsible for staff orientation and development plans to promote personal and professional development of staff.
  • Responsible for development of Quality Assurance Program which reflects department scope of service and implementation of strategies which will assure quality care delivery.
  • Analyzes monthly budget report and justifies any areas of discrepancy and effectively control costs through economical utilization of human and material resources.
  • Analyzes information and accurately forecasts future program needs.
  • Participates in the formulation, implementation and enforcement of hospital and departmental policies, procedures and standards.  Contributes to and develops divisional goals which complement institutional goals.
  • Supports clinical research activities and shares knowledge and expertise with peers and employees through formal and informal educational activities.
  • Identifies individual situations or patterns which relate to risk management or quality of care concerns and follows the proper chain of command to assure resolutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • College Degree (4 yrs) - Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Registered Nurse Licensure in North Carolina required
  • More than 5 years in managerial or supervisory position required.
  • Five years of clinical experience is required, but one year should be in a beginning level management experience or one year additional graduate education substituted for one year of experience with a maximum substitution of two years.
