Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC.   • Serves as a role model to the staff in supporting VROA and Vidant Health.
  • Manages and monitors the departmental services (clinical), performance improvement and clinical or other designated outcomes.
  • Responsible to access risk factors and develop action plan to reduce risks and enhance patient safety.
  • Accountable for financial outcomes of the department by managing expenses according to budget and staffing requirements.
  • Responsible for human resources including managing position control, hiring of staff, staff education, providing feedback and evaluation and employee recognition and appreciation.
  • Cultivates effective working relationship with the staff and functions as “Chief Retention Officer.”
  • Accountable for customer and physician satisfaction outcomes.
  • Ensures appropriate patient/technical/departmental services are provided as needed.
  • Maintains current knowledge of VROA and Vidant Health policies and external agency regulations (EMTALA, JCAHO, DFS, HIPPA, etc) and assures operational compliance with policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • Current BLS at time of hire and maintained during employment.
  • Advanced Life support certification.  If not current at time of hire, must complete and maintain within first 12 months of employment.               

Preferred Requirements

  • BSN degree preferred
  • 3 years clinical experience preferred
  • Certified in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing preferred

Other Information

  • 1 full-time EXEMPT position, 40 hours per week
  • Pay range $22.60-$ 51.25/hr.  Actual rate depends on experience
  • Resume required
