Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC.  The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities.  Vidant Health has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Wired healthcare organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 1 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

The Strategic Planning Manager will be responsible for leading a diverse set of functions consisting of IS strategy, planning, portfolio management and resource management. This position requires the candidate to have the knowledge, experiences, skills, and aptitude to span multiple roles, as needed, from leader and manager, to consultant and advisor, and most importantly, to contributor for each of these functions. Responsibilities of the Strategic Planning Manager include the refinement and implementation of existing frameworks to better ensure greater alignment of IS strategy with the overall Vidant Health business strategy, definition and management of key strategic IS initiatives as necessary to further the goals and objectives of IS and Vidant Health, and appropriate management reporting to demonstrate the progress made against these key goals and objectives. 

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Planning. Own and lead the IS strategy development process, engaging/partnering with the IS leadership team to develop strategic IS initiatives and maintain integrated views via 1-, 3-, 5-year strategic roadmaps.
  • Portfolio Management. Lead the IS integrated planning process to create a comprehensive master project plan, ensure coordination and dependency management between initiatives, address resource capacities, and alignment to near-term and long-term business priorities.
  • Budget Management. Facilitates development of annual IS operating and capital budgets.
  • Talent Management. Demonstrates a commitment to employee professional development by providing opportunities for assuming new and varied responsibilities, training and development, and coaching and mentoring by management and staff.
  • Financial Management Demonstrates a commitment to the effective utilization of IS human and financial resources by developing and monitoring capital and operating budgets and a multi-year financial plan to support the IS Strategic Plan. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's/Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field strongly desired.
  • At least three years of experience in portfolio planning (project and budget), strategy development and execution
  • At least three years of experience in an IS leadership/management with a strong operational background and proven track record of accomplishments in Information Services within a large, complex, multi-location organization.
