 Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. Vidant Health has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Wired healthcare organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

This position partners with Vidant Health leaders to identify opportunities and deploy technical solutions to assure that the Vidant Health Data Centers and Co-Location sites are managed appropriately, which includes Electrical and cooling management (working with our facilities team and Co-Location management), Security, Network Connectivity, etc. 


  • Demonstrates a commitment to supporting the business needs of Vidant Health by collaborating with business stakeholders in the selection and implementation of new technologies and adaptation of existing systems.
  • Ensure all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Vidant's IT service offerings for both internal and external customers are met or exceeded as it relates to Data Center Management.
  • Provide, ensure, and demonstrate comprehensive recoverability of all IT services, systems, and data in support ofVidant's disaster recovery plans, retention policies, and recovery time objectives and recover point objectives. Provide expert guidance and expertise on all matters related to disaster recovery and business continuity management for IT operations.
  • Working with the Director of Network Engineering and Data Center Operations and other managers, participates in the selection, management and ongoing optimization of all Servers, Storage, backup, and environmental areas within Vidant Health's Data Center and Network Operations Center (NOC) facilities and services, both on-premise and other locations, Service Delivery.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service by providing responsive and effective support, developing solid working relationships with end user customers and other Information Services staff, and delivering high quality, value-added services that exceed customer expectations.
  • Minimize time to deliver - Anticipates service requirements and prepares plans to deliver "just-in-time" infrastructure services prior to the services being requested.
  • Collaborates with development and customer services teams to determine technology infrastructure requirements and translate requirements into the definition of a technical architecture.
  • Ensures a smooth transition from implementation to production and ongoing operational support. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field strongly desired.
  • Two or more certifications in related technologies strongly desired.
  • 5 -10 plus years of relevant technical experience working in large scale Data Center Environments.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in Server and Storage
  • Collaborative experience with other technical managers that have shown positive results.
