Position Summary

  • Behavioral Health Service (BHS) Clinical Manager: Provides oversight of all clinical programming within BHS which includes supervision of allied health staff (Care Coordinators, Substance Abuse Counselors, Recreational Therapists, Utilization Review Staff);
  • Assists in the review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practice.
  • Plays a key role with the BHS Leadership Team and the development and drive of Vidant Medical Center and BHS strategic framework and standards of performance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Graduate degree in social work, counseling, psychology or equivalent.
  • Related Work Experience:  Minimum 5 years experience in Behavioral Health or related field. Preferably at least 2  years in an inpatient psychiatric setting and at least 2 years as a formal leader.
  • Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, EHR, etc.)
  • Must possess understanding and working knowledge of TJC, CMS, NC DHSR, NC IVC standards related to inpatient psychiatric facilities.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and interventions.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, decision making, problem-solving and participative management.
  • NC License Required: LCSW, LPC, LPA,  LMFT  (or similar).


  • Degree in Recreational Therapy.
  • NC Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT)

  • NC Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) a plus.
