Position Summary 

Provides oversight of all clinical programming within Behavioral Health (BH) which includes supervision of allied health staff (Care Coordinators(LCSW's/LPC's), Substance Abuse Counselors, Recreational Therapists, Utilization Management Staff); Develops and/or reviews policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practice; Is a member of BH Leadership Team and assists with the development and drive of Vidant Medical Center and BH strategic framework and standards of performance. Is the management liaison to other allied health internal and external stakeholders such as Pastoral Care, Animal Assisted Therapy, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Case Management, community providers, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, directs and administers the Vidant Health approach to allied health services and coordinates the screening, interviewing and selection, development and evaluation of staff. 
  • Directly involved with human resources, coordination of recruitment/interviewing, selection and orientation process of staff. 
  • Establishes quality expectations and develops, plans and implements policies and procedures to enhance services provided by the department. 
  • Develops and implement mechanisms to enhance collaboration with internal and external resources. 
  • Coordinates the Utilization Management process and maintains accountability for compliance with regulatory bodies and managed care contracts. 
  • Assists in the development of and accountable to the departmental budget.

 Minimum Position Requirements

  • College Degree plus other schooling.
  • Masters level clinical (MSW, MA, M, MS in counseling, psychology, or similar) or Ph.D/Psy.D in behavioral health field.
  • Prefer degree in Recreational Therapy as well.
  • Related Work Experience: 5 years or greater
  • Management experience in Behavioral Health related field, preferably at least 2-4 years in an inpatient setting.-Two or more years of supervisory/management experience in a mental health or related field.
  • Literate in computer skills. Must possess understanding and working knowledge of TJC, CMS, and DHSR, IVC standards related to inpatient psychiatric facilities.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and interventions. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, decision making, problem-solving and participative management.
  • Registration or Certification required: Licensed in clinical behavioral health discipline required (LPC, LCSW, LMFT or similar).

Other Information

  • Position is salaried. Offer amount would be based on years of related experience.
  • Work schedule may vary as needed for leadership and staffing needs.
