About Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital

Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC.   • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age and abilities of the Vidant member or guest.
  • Demonstrates safe operation of all aquatic equipment in compliance with departmental policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards.
  • Uses “Red Rules” and safety behaviors to provide safe member service.
  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper hand washing techniques.
  • Maintains confidentiality of member and guest information.
  • Uses “RELATE” to effectively reassure every member every interaction/every time.
  • Provides an environment where all pool participants feel that their concerns and questions are of the highest importance. Seizes opportunities to go beyond member expectations.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills.
  • Participates in Inservice Education.
  • Provides accurate and appropriate member and guest information related to services and programs of Vidant obtaining proper documentation and signatures as needed.
  • Participates in life-support activities as required, responds to emergency situations and emergency practice drills throughout Vidant.
  • Actively participates in aquatic practice safety drills and is directly involved in the identification and application of measures to improve safety and customer service of the pool area.
  • Incorporates department protocol driven policies and procedures appropriately to direct Vidant services.
  • Uses department scripts to effectively communicate with other departments, members, guests and coworkers and students in person or over the phone.
  • Monitors all pool areas including the sauna and bathing areas to observe and correct any high risk issue identified.
  • Enforces all pool rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Measures pool water chemical balance every three hours and making adjustments of pool chemicals appropriately within policy.
  • Monitors pool and sauna for proper temperature settings and making appropriate adjustments as needed.
  • Performs daily pool cleaning including skimmers, backwashing, pool deck cleaning, handrails and pool equipment.
  • Communicates to Pool Operator any unusual events or occurrences related to the pool, sauna, or bathing areas.

Minimum Requirements

  • Certification in CPR, First Aid and ARC, Ellis & Associates or YMCA Lifeguarding.
  • Ability to enforce pool rules, regulations, policies and procedures with alertness, tact, and professionalism.
  • Ability to perform chemical water tests, routine pool deck and equipment cleaning.
