Vidant Duplin Hospital is an 81-bed facility located in Kenansville, North Carolina and has 20 practicing physicians on its active medical staff. Vidant Duplin serves Duplin County and surrounding communities in Eastern North Carolina with a population of approximately 60,000 people. On an annually basis, it serves 3,800 inpatients and over 52,000 outpatients (including nearly 30,0000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 2,050.


Position Summary

  • Responsible for administering Recreational Therapy treatments per therapists direction for patients with physical, social, emotional and/or cognitive impairments that training allows competent practice. Scope of service includes general adult, Geriatric/ Psyc-med, MR/MI and acute services on the Behavioral Health unit.  Communicates and consults with the Recreational Therapist and members of the interdisciplinary team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree as a Recreational Therapist Assistant from an approved community college or a related field (art therapy, music therapy) or a BA/BS in a Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or  Recreational Administration required with an option in TR or related field.
  • Maintain State of North Carolina Recreational Therapy Assistant licensure (LRTA) through the State of NC Licensure Board.
  • Related work or intership in speciality area Behavioral Health, Rehab, Medical/Surgical.
