About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.


  • Assists Supervisor with administrative duties.
  • Assists in supervision of Groundskeepers and Grounds Specialists in supervisor's absence.
  • Assists in training staff on the usage of all types of equipment and maintaining basic data and records of equipment servicing.
  • Trims, cuts, rakes, mows and edges lawns and shrubbery; cleans and weeds bed, removes unwanted damaged plants and replaces same; treats plants with chemical preparations; spreads fertilizer and see; removes snow ice from sidewalks and drives
  • Polices grounds for trash and debris.
  • Clears debris from storm drains; sweeps sidewalks, parking lots and other outside traffic areas.
  • Serves as primary operator of approximately 30 independent irrigation systems.
  • Handles all necessary repairs and changes to irrigation systems.
  • Serves as department resource for all equipment. 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate required.   Additional education in horticulture or related with certifications preferred.
  • 3 - 5  years of related work experience as a professional landscape contractor, commercial lawn maintenance company, municipal, state, corporate grounds department, or corporate farming is required. Experience may include internships.
  • Require NC Department of Agriculture Pesticide Ground Applicators license within six months of employment.
  • Valid NC Drivers License required.
  • One year of additional education may be substituted for one year of the required experience with a maximum substitution of two years.
