Position Summary

  • The Lactation Program Assistant (LPA) is a breastfeeding peer counselor who works with hospital Lactation Specialists and nursing staff to provide support to Maternal Expressions customers and/or Vidant Health patients. The LPA functions primarily in the Maternal Expressions Boutique interacting with customers, assisting with purchases and rentals of breast pumps, maintaining merchandise inventory, handling the Point of Sale software application and providing support to promote, encourage and assist mothers to maintain lactation.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School, plus less than 1 year of formal training or education.
  • Must demonstrate competency in principles of breastfeeding knowledge and support.
  • Must possess excellent communication and service excellence skills.
  • Must possess past experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Related Work Experience: 3 months to 1 year.
  • Basic course in Breastfeeding and/or Nutrition Support preferred.
  • IBCLC Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience with Point of Sale system or Retail Sales preferred.
