Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.


  • IBCLC Registered Nurse: Plan, provide, and supervise Lactation Education for clients in preparation for the Breast-feeding experience both prenatal and postpartum utilizing the Baby Friendly guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Accredited Nursing Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

  • Basic Life Support

  • Minimum of three years experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery.

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.

  • IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant or certified within 6 months from date of hire.

Preferred Requirements

  • ACLS, PALS, NPR certifications

  • As needed basis (PRN)/hours will vary
