  • Establishment of STEMI call schedule and responsibilities
  • Establishment of protocols, policy, and procedures
  • Collaboration with EMS and ED to ensure optimal care and outcomes
  • Oversight of the Chest Pain Accreditation process
  • Education of hospital staff
  • Outpatient clinic
  • Provides leadership for ongoing operations of the program.
  • Assists in the development and expansion of the program.
  • Interfaces with other providers in the clinical administration of the program.
  • Acts as a resource in the medical management of patients.
  • Troubleshoots regarding clinical issues that may arise with patients, families, physicians or other health care providers.
  • Promotes medical education in their field.
  • Assists with program planning, including annual budgeting.
  • Assists in the recruitment and hiring of individuals in their field.
  • Offers support and direction for quality initiatives that involve the program, as well as peer review.
  • Participates as appropriate in community-based programs to increase the visibility of their program.
  • Works with appropriate staff to assure compliance with all accreditation and governmental guidelines in the program.

Minimum Requirements

  • Board certification in Interventional Cardiology
  • Training in Radiographic and Radiation Protection
  • Successful completion of at least 500 PCI’s as primary operator post fellowship
  • Experience in management of cardiogenic shock, mechanical complications of MI and hypothermia
  • 4 year college degree plus other schooling is required. Board Certified in their field of Expertise.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina is required.
  • Active member of the Medical Staff of one or more Vidant hospital.
  • At least five years of full-time experience in their field with demonstrated excellence in clinical care.
  • Demonstrated understanding of healthcare industry trends and proficient in basic business principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement programs and care models to meet patient, family, community and referring physician needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement quality improvement programs and performance standards.
  • At least three years of demonstrated success in management and program development in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels of professionals within a large integrated healthcare system including a tertiary care teaching hospital.

Vidant Medical Group, The East Carolina Heart Institute, and Nash Health are seeking an Interventional Cardiologist with at least 5 years of experience to serve as the Medical Director of their Rocky Mount-based STEMI program. The successful candidate will have a focus on the development of a STEMI program as well as the development of an outpatient practice.
