 Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Manages day to day user provisioning using automated tools/administrative console

  • Understands process of creating reports in Access Management-related systems.

  • Understands how to translate compliance requirements into technology functionality

  • Capable of evaluating Access Management aspects of new projects

  • Manages day-to-day operations of Access Management applications

  • Creates and maintains documentation for day to day Access Management operations. 

  • Follows standard operating procedures for managing lifecycle of user accounts

  • Assists with the resolution of negative audit findings related to user account management

  • Follows standard operating procedures for handling user account exceptions/anomalies

  • Make appropriate access decisions in conjunction with application coordinators/analysts. 

  • Interact with business units to ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained.

  • Import a spreadsheet of users and map them to a template built by application coordinators/analysts.

  • Create and maintain procedures for new users to receive login authorization, passwords, and training on proper system security.

  • Establish procedures for inactivating users who should no longer access the system.

  • Provide after hour support on a rotating schedule.

  • Coordinate and provide summary reports reviewing computer access.

  • Prepare data access reviews for employed, contracted, and temporary users.

  • Perform monitoring of user access to application and file servers in accordance with safeguarding requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent work training and experience required

  • Ability and willingness to obtain entry level knowledge of Epic knowledge and other security knowledge.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred

  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred. Service Desk experience is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of ITIL best practices.

  • Experience working with legal, compliance, and audit staff is a plus.

  • Good understanding of file server share security and directory services account management

  • Strong analytical and project prioritization skills are required for effective workload management.

  • Demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills; ability to react quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of Incident Response fundamentals related to information access monitoring, violations, and responsibilities in role of first-point-of-contact.  

  • Basic familiarity with HIPAA Security & Privacy Rules, especially in the context of provisioning user accounts.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate security & compliance requirements and relate them to business needs.
