Position Summary

  • The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control Program, developed to control the spread of infections and/or outbreaks. 
  • Track and monitor transmissible diseases and notify local, state and federal authorities about reportable diseases as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in applicable field, such as MSN, MPH, MPA, MaED, MS
  • RN or MT(ASCP)/MLS(ASCP) required for nursing and clinical laboratory professionals
  • More than 5 years experience in healthcare setting
  • Certification in Infection Control in 3 years and recertified every 5 years

Other Information

  • Hours are M-F / 0800 - 1700.
  • On call every 7 weeks (usually questions).
  • VMC is part of Vidant Health system that works collaboratively between inpatient and outpatient services, Endoscopy, VMG (VH medical clinics), Medical Center and VCOM (smaller hospitals), Surgery Center, Home Health & Hospital.
