  • IV Additive Technicians are responsible for preparing sterile IV medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. They prepare IV admixtures in accordance with policy and procedure and the 797 guidelines.
  • IV Additive Technicians are responsible for operating the Epic computer system. This includes reviewing patient's medication profiles, filling scheduled rounds and stat doses and setting up IV medication labels to be prepared. They also perform credits and charges and assists nurses with IV medication issues.
  • IV Additive Technicians are responsible for preparing Total Parenteral Nutrition solutions and adding electrolytes and other drugs to the TPN solution. They are responsible for cleaning, setting up and operating of Baxa Compounders per policy and procedure.
  • IV technicians must practicing good aseptic technique, successfully complete a media fill kit, a glove fingertip sample test and a training manual during the initial six weeks of training. Annually they must successfully pass a written competency assessment, a media fill kit and a glove fingertip sample test.
  • IV technicians maintain the inventory of the IV room drugs and supplies. They are responsible for monitoring expiration dates and recalls of all medications in stock. Technicians prepare a variety of narcotic infusions and keep the required documentation and inventory of IV controlled substances.
  • Chemo technicians sing a closed system and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Chemotherapy technicians are responsible for preparing patient charts, cleaning and setting up the hood and preparing patient's chemo medications. They also document waste, label opened vials and maintain medications stock and inventory supplies.
  • The OR and ECHI technicians prepare case kits, on-call medications and stock the Pyxis Anesthesia work stations in all the OR suites. They prepare cardiac drips, drip sheets and syringe trays for cardiac surgeries. The OR and ECHI technicians maintain the medication and supply inventory for the satellites. They prepare cardioplegia solutions and operates the Rapid-Fill Syringe machine for batching needed doses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 1 year but less than 2 years of formal training or education.
  • Must be registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment. Certified with the PTCB preferred.
  • One year of pharmacy experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting required.
  • IV additive experience preferred.

  • Two positions - evening and weekend hours mostly (Training will be done during during day shift ) NO Benefits with these positions.o N.s......
