Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

Vidant’s Information Systems Project Management Office (PMO) is growing and we need an experienced Program Manager to join our team.  The Program Manager is responsible for pipeline/program/project management of portions of our project portfolio. You will work with a team of project managers assigned to multiple moderate to high complexity projects.  The Program Manager will participate in maintaining Vidant’s project management framework and related education program.  Must have proven experience managing enterprise wide clinical application implementation and upgrade projects and programs.  Candidates with experience in ambulatory and/or inpatient service areas preferred. 

Responsibilities

  • Partners with operational and IS leaders to develop, maintain, and execute on portfolio roadmaps in assigned business area(s)

  • Leads or participates in project/program executive steering teams for active projects/programs in assigned business area(s)

  • Point of escalation for all projects within the project portfolio in assigned business area(s)

  • Ensures assignment of project managers to meet the needs of the project portfolio in assigned business area(s)

  • Manages complex application related projects/programs throughout the entire project/program life cycle

  • Develops and maintains status reports and dashboards across the project portfolio

  • Develops and maintains processes and education programs for project management framework; Delivers education; Provides coaching

  • Defines requirements for tools used to support PMO processes and project management framework

  • Ensures adherence to the PMO’s project management framework

  • Develops and maintains project quality measures and PMO metrics

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Healthcare or related field; Master’s degree preferred

  • PMP certification required; PgMP certification preferred

  •  15+ years project management experience required

  •  5+ years program management experience required

  • Must be solution oriented and collaborative and have the ability to motivate project managers and teams to deliver results that add value to the organization's goal

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills

  •  Must have an adaptive approach that aligns with the needs of the project portfolio and project teams

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies and adapt to changes and demands of the organization

  •  Must be an effective problem solver, strategic thinker, and self-motivated

  • Experience in SDLC (Waterfall) required

  • Experience in Agile / Scrum / SAFe a plus

  • Experience with ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management a plus

  •  Experience with SharePoint a plus
