Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

The IS Strategic Operations Intern will support the Resource Management and Project Management Office functions of Information Services.  The Intern will learn from experienced team members, contribute to the success of Information Services, and develop ideas to solve problems and make the organization more effective.  The IS Strategic Operations Intern will be actively engaged with a course of study that is relevant to healthcare information services.  This is a great opportunity for a student to gain knowledge and experience in a highly collaborative environment in an exciting field.  Hours will be 20-40 hours a week and flexible to meet the needs of class schedules. 


  • Provide support to experienced project managers, including meeting coordination, meeting agendas and minutes, action item followup, and maintenance of project documents

  • Maintain project collaboration sites in SharePoint

  • Support for the Information Services Resource Management function, including reports analysis, information gathering, and development/distribution of communications within Information Services regarding resource management needs

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Information Technology, Business Administration, or Healthcare - preferred

  • Experience with SharePoint preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be solution oriented and collaborative

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies and adapt to changes and demands of the organization

  • Must be an effective problem solver, strategic thinker, and self-motivated
