Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC.  The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities.  Vidant Health has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Wired healthcare organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 1 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager is responsible for the management of multiple key Information Services projects of varying complexity across business units throughout project lifecycle by following system development lifecycle methodology (SDLC) and standard project management methodology.

Work involves the management of multiple key Information Services projects across business units including utilizing the system development lifecycle methodology of the organization. Preparation of all project documentation using standard tools including development of work breakdown structure and resource estimates for all project tasks. Preparation of the project schedule and timeline for project activities   The project manager assigns tasks to team members and ensures tasks are managed to completion. The project manager is responsible for the assignment and tracking to completion for project tasks and management of issues including tracking and resolution. Ensures business analysis, design and documentation of solutions to meet the business needs of Vidant Health Information Services customers are complete and incorporated into the project plan.  Establishes communication plan for project stakeholders and presents clear and timely project status and issues reports. Responsible for communicating with project team members, project sponsor and project stakeholders. Assesses documents and proactively manages risk and ROI for projects. Creates budgets for projects assigned. Monitors, manages and reports on budget for assigned projects.

Project Domain:

This project manager will have experience in project management in the following areas:

  • Identifies critical path decisions, makes recommendations and influences program leaders and business process owners to maximize project payback.
  • Establishes and manages relationships with key stakeholders and users, leads and assists in planning reporting initiatives.
  • Develops peer, and cross-functional relationships among the “data community” to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness
  • Projects will consist of Population Health, implementation of standard Epic BI artifacts, the development of ETL processes, evaluation of data quality, and data modeling, data management, governance, meta data development, and data visualization.

Develops training curriculum in project management, methodology and tools and provides leadership in class preparation and delivers training to Information Services staff as assigned. Ensures tools and best practices are consistent with PMBOK standards.

May manage internal process improvement projects. Maintains knowledge in project management best practices and tools. Mentors and coaches others  May assists with process improvement assessments that would enhance implementation of solutions.  Performs after action reviews for completed projects and documents successes and opportunities for improvement. Assists with implementation of and incorporation of best practice improvements in project management methodology.  Provides support as needed for IS governance.

Minimum Requirements

  • College Degree (4 yrs.)  Preferred Majors: Information Technology, Health Care related, Business Administration.
  • 5 years to 7 years of structured project management. Preferably in Business Intelligence.
  • Project Management training required,  PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Self Starter, proactive, ability to motivate team members.
