Information Services at Vidant Health               

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC.  The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities.  Vidant Health has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Wired healthcare organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 1 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager is responsible for the management of key Information Services projects throughout the project life cycle by following system development lifecycle methodology and standard project management methodology. Projects will be small to medium in size.

  • Assists with Quality Improvement initiatives. Reviews project plans and documentation to insure projects are being managed consistent with adopted project management methodology. Assists with process assessments where Lean Six Sigma methodology may improve processes that would enhance implementation of solutions. Participates in after action reviews for completed projects and assists with documentation of successes and opportunities for improvement. Provides support as needed for IT governance application to insure incorporation of project management methodology.
  • Trains Information Services staff in project management fundamentals, methodology and tools. Assists with preparation of classroom materials and provides input into training materials. Schedules classes and enrolls staff members. Performs classroom instruction. Maintains knowledge in project management best practices and tools.
  • Management of small to medium key Information Services projects including utilizing system development lifecycle methodology and project management methodology guidelines to deliver projects on schedule and on budget while meeting the needs of the business units. Preparation of all project documentation including development of work break down structure and resource estimates for all project tasks. Prepares schedule and timeline for project activities. Responsible for the assignment and tracking to completion for project tasks and management of issues including tracking and resolution. Assists with and gathers analysis, design and documentation of business needs of Vidant Health Information Services customers. Incorporates needs into the solution design and work plan.
  • Establishes communication plan for project status and presents clear and timely project status and issues reports. Responsible for developing communication materials for project team members, project sponsor and project stakeholders. Assesses, gathers and documents risk and ROI for projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • College Degree (4 yrs) Major: Information Technology, Health Care related, Business Administration, project management training required
  • 5 years to 7 years experience in leadership role in project management following project management methodology
  • Project management training required, certification preferred, Lean Six Sigma process improvement training preferred
