Position Summary

The Histology Specialist maintains competence in every aspect of Histology and acts in place of the supervisor when necessary. Position provides technical expertise and leadership to develop, perform and troubleshoot all histologic staining procedures to include specialized histology processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education, Certifications or Licenses:  Bachelor's degree required.  Must be HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) eligible.  HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) must be obtained within first 2 years of employment
  • QIHC preferred
  • Experience:  8 years of laboratory experience required. 5 of the 8 years must be Immunohistochemistry experience
  • One additional year of Immunohistochemistry experience will substitute for one year of education with a maximum substitution of two years
  • QIHC certification will substitute for one year of the required experience
  • Skills: Routine histological skills to include fixation techniques, embedding, microtomy and staining.  Special histological skills to include:  Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence

  • Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm includes Saturday rotation
