Position Summary

Prepare patient specimens as required for laboratory testing. Perform HLA laboratory tests following written procedure. Follow written procedures to assure test/reagent quality and validity. Perform isolation of genomic DNA to be used for HLA Typing. Perform HLA Class I and II typing using molecular and serologic methods. Perform T- and B-cell cross-matching using flow cytometric and complement dependent methods. Perform detection and characterization of anti-HLA antibody using Luminex and flow cytometric methods. Demonstrates appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace, treating patients, their families, visitors, and staff with respect and dignity. Communicate accurate HLA test results in a timely manner, especially those that may be life-threatening to the patient. Maintain properly documented records of activities. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology or related degree required
  • Formal training in Immunology and genetics preferred
  • Supervised experience in human histocompatibility testing; additional education qualifying the applicant as a Medical Laboratory Scientist preferred
  • CHT (ABHI) certified and flow cytometry experience strongly preferred
