Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age and abilities of the Vidant Wellness member or guest.
  • Demonstrates safe operation of all equipment in compliance with departmental policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards.
  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper hand washing techniques between clients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of member and guest information.
  • Uses “RELATE’ to effectively reassure every customer every interaction/every time.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills.
  • Participates in Inservice Education, updates, and staff meetings to remain current with ViQuest and RCH activities and information.
  • Assess the appropriateness of exercise related services by evaluating client data and assessing the overall status of the client based on age and abilities.
  • Facilitates group exercise instruction, evaluating and monitoring clients’ response, modifying intensity and duration to achieve desired objectives.
  • Selects, choreographs, and utilizes instructional methods and procedures appropriate for class type and mode of exercise ensuring a high quality, safe and effective exercise environment is maintained.
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate music for class type and mode of exercise to create a motivating environment and ensure a safe and effective exercise environment.
  • Maintains client participation through personal marketing of the program, participation in quality improvement assessments and implementation of efforts to continually improve member satisfaction.
  • Provides accurate and appropriate member and guest education related to services and programs of ViQuest obtaining proper documentation and signatures as needed.
  • Participates in life-support activities as required, responds to emergency situations and emergency practice drills throughout ViQuest.
  • Incorporates department protocol driven policies and procedures appropriately to direct ViQuest services.
  • Uses department scripts to effectively communicate with other departments, members, guests and coworkers and students in person or over the phone.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School education
  • Group Exercise Certification through a nationally accredited organization such as AFAA, ACE, IFTA, NASM, WITS, ACSM, NDEITA, USWFA, AEA, YMCA or MS or approved by GEPL or ATRS.
  • Certification can be substituted by 2 or more years of experience having demonstrated skills with a national certification received within 6 months of hire date.
  • Current CPR, if not current, must complete within first six months of employment and maintain.

  • This is a prn (on an as needed basis) position.
  • Hours vary-early mornings, evenings, weekends.
