Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule personnel based on established authorized staffing levels as well as employee vacations and holidays with minimum use of overtime.
  • Schedules, distributes, and directs work activity on a fair and equitable basis. Knowledge of employee duties and location at all times.
  • Recommends, plans, and implements changes in technique, policy and procedures.
  • Records tardiness and absenteeism daily and initiates corrective action when necessary.
  • Assures quality control procedures are followed and records maintained.
  • Orders, receives, and inventories food and supplies as needed.
  • Assures employees follow production procedures in regard to quality, taste, temperature, appearance, and portion control according to accepted standards.
  • Assures proper use, safety, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment and general sanitation of work areas, according to sanitation and standards.
  • Maintains security of food and supplies and follows established opening and closing procedures.
  • Works the checking position of the patient tray line when assigned to patient services.
  • Responsible for cash handling supervision when assigned to staff dining.
  • Leads and supervises the performance of catering events when assigned to staff dining.
  • Complies with meeting established schedules of service.
  • Communicates maintenance required and effectively follows-up to assure that work has been completed.
  • Orients and trains employees on an ongoing basis with documentation on file and coordinates cross-training in other areas of the department.
  • Schedule, conducts, and keeps minutes of meetings as assigned.
  • Documents in employees records as deemed necessary, and objectively completes evaluations in a timely manner according to established policy.
  • Demonstrates acceptable level of Service Excellence behaviors. Practices and demonstrates work place courtesy toward customers and fellow members. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and performs as a team member.
  • Meets professional requirements. Completes role specific Vidant Medical Center requirement including annual health screening, Service Excellence, substance abuse, sexual harassment, Management/Supervisory development, Blood
  • Borne Pathogens training, and other departmental training requirements. Completes annual JCAHO requirements.
  • Adhere to the established uniform policy and maintain all established standards for personal hygiene and personal appearance. 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 3 years experience with large volume food service either in a retail or institution setting. One year of supervisory experience of 5 or more people.
  •  Associates degree in food service related field, completion of an approved Certified Dietary manger course or an additional four years experience may be substituted for the supervisory experience requirement. 

Other Information

  • 1 full time vacancy, hours will be either 5:30 am - 4:00 pm or 10:00 am - 8:30 pm.
