About the Outer Banks Hospital

We opened in March 2002 as a joint venture between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Our facility includes eighteen acute care medical-surgical beds, two labor and delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, a level II nursery bed, a designated caesarian section room, three operating rooms, outpatient and diagnostic services along with a 24-hour emergency department. Affiliated with The Outer Banks Hospital is The Outer Banks Medical Group (a Vidant Medical Group partner) which is comprised of eight physician practices.

Position Summary

Performs a variety of daily and cyclical floor care tasks.?? Cleans and/or prepares hospital interior facilities for further use according to established procedures, transports and prepares waste materials for disposal according to established procedures and performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of daily and cyclical floor care tasks.  Dust mops, damp mops, scrubs, strips, applies floor finish, and buffs hard surface floors.  Sweeps, vacuums, bonnet buffs, and extracts carpeted floor surfaces.  Moves and replaces furniture and equipment in order to perform floor care tasks.  Operates a variety of floor care machines in performance of routine duties.  Performs manual detail cleaning of baseboards, corners, and areas inaccessible to machines.  Cleans and/or prepares hospital interior facilities for further use according to established procedures.  Performs a variety of cleaning tasks including:  restroom cleaning and sanitizing, high dusting, low dusting, dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping and vacuuming, window cleaning, restocking of restroom supplies, emptying of trash containers. Performs cleaning tasks in public areas, offices, treatment rooms, corridors, elevators, stairwells, and patient rooms.  Cleans blood and body fluids spills according to standard procedures.  Transports and prepares waste materials for disposal.  Gathers and transports solid waste, infectious waste, recyclables, and soiled linen to the Soiled Processing Center.  Packages infectious waste for disposal according to standard procedures.  Operates power trash compactor in the disposal of solid waste and cardboard.  Transports patient beds to and from storage as assigned.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High School graduate or the equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Requires three months to 1 year of work experience.

Other Information

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position.
