Responsibilities

  • Oversee and be responsible for a major programmatic and/or departmental operational function. Oversight for area(s) of responsibility will include financial performance (revenue generation and/or expense management), program/service growth and development, quality program and/or service initiatives and outcomes and report generation as required.
  • Actively prospect for, train, supervise, schedule, motivate, provide monitorship and professional development opportunities and assess / maintain performance accountability for your direct staff reports. Actively participate and share in the responsibility for the growth, development, promotion and overall success of current and new innovative exercise programming and services and related collaborations.
  • Assist (as required /assigned) in the performance of exercise assessments using accepted protocols and development of exercise prescriptions for apparently healthy and high-risk/known diseased members. Assist (as required /assigned) in monitoring the exercise floor and in providing high-level customer service & a safe, clean environment for members/clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • M.S. or M.A. in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Sports or Recreation Management, Physical Education, or Health Science related.
  • 3 to 5 years working in a medically modeled exercise / wellness program /adult fitness program / high quality community or commercial exercise facility as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor or exercise specialist. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • If Personal Training: must obtain ACSM, ACE, NSCA, or AFAA personal training certification within 6 months of employment.
  • If Group Exercise: must have group exercise certification(s) from at least one (1) of the following: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, IFTA or AEA.
  • A minimum of one year of proven Personal Training or Group Exercise Supervisory experience may be substituted for the Master's degree requirement. A bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Sports or Recreation Management, Physical Education, or Health Science related will be the minimal educational requirement
