Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

The Educational Nurse Specialist (ENS) is a registered nurse who executes professional development processes to develop and maintain competence and lifelong learning. The education nurse specialist enhances nursing professional practice among nurses at all levels of the organization and functions as a leader, innovator, facilitator and change agent. The ENS works within the Vidant Medical Center nursing professional practice model and operationalizes the scope and standards of practice for nursing professional development as ascribed by the American Nurses Association. The ENS utilizes research and best evidence to impact nursing professional development at Vidant Medical Center.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate professional development processes to ensure safe and quality care and outcomes.
  • Serve as a consultant for professional development project and program management across service lines for the implementation of house-wide and unit specific educational activities.
  • Support and advance clinical nursing practice through the facilitation and implementation of innovative professional development strategies.
  • Advance the knowledge and skills of nurses using evidence based practice, current literature and the conduct of research.
  • Facilitates the development of career and role transition processes.
  • Leads nursing professional development across service lines and specialties at Vidant Medical Center in collaboration with the Center for Learning and Performance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's Degree in nursing or a related specialty required with concentration in education preferred. 
  • BSN with Masters in Education would also meet qualifications.
  • Education contract could be considered for BSN without Masters completion  if currently in Masters program with graduation within 6 months.  
  • Current RN Licensure In North Carolina.
  • At least 5 years experience in clinical practice with evidence of clinical knowledge, leadership and teaching abilities; two additional years experience in area of specialty is desirable.

Preferred Requirements

  • Two years prior experience in Behavioral Health setting.

Other Information

  • Work schedule will primarily be for days Monday - Friday with some flexibility to cover evenings and weekends when needed for educational  responsibilities.
  • Position is full time / salaried.   Potential offers would be established based on years of related employment experience.
