Position Summary

Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) will be responsible for installing and configuring the Epic client software and infrastructure components. The ECSA must have a strong Windows server administration background and an understanding of Epic client connectivity architecture. This would include, but not be limited to, MyChart, Epic-Link, Epic Hyperspace Web, Epic interconnect servers, Epic FIPS servers, BCA and Web deployment, Kuiper, Haiku, and Canto. Understanding of networking, and troubleshooting/triaging Epic performance and throughput is core to the daily operational requirements. The ECSA will install, configure, maintain, and deploy Epic build using Epic methodology such as Sherlock and Galaxy notes. The ideal candidate would be ECSA certified but sufficient job experience will be considered. The ECSA is responsible for change control and communicating environment activities following corporate policies and security controls. Knowledge of Cache or dba practices, VMware, Active Directory, and Citrix XenDesktop, and NetScaler would be a plus.


  • Monitor, categorize, and triage incoming end user tickets related to Epic client systems
  • The Epic Client Systems Engineer will focus on managing, maintaining, & implementing the Epic Windows Server infrastructure, including installing/upgrading and/or deploying Epic applications on servers and clients using Kuiper, and System Pulse
  • Management and support from a technical perspective of the Interconnect, Hyperspace, EPS, Web BLOB, Hyperspace Web, BCA, MyChart, Carelink\Healthy Planet, Haiku, Rover, Care Everywhere, Home Health, Kuiper, and System Pulse services
  • Support of other Epic Windows based applications as well as assisting other Epic 3rd party applications teams with their integration into Epic as needed
  • Work with other internal IT teams on escalated incidents
  • Create and maintain knowledge base documentation
  • Gather requirements from functional teams for their integrations with third party products
  • Research, install, document, maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure needs
  • Peer development of team members
  • Assists in the testing of all production services and their supporting systems ensuring redundancy, resilience, and failover to ensure up-time standards are fully achieved
  • Maintain stable environments for everyday production and non-production environments for specific use case testing
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to drive solutions that are simple and repeatable
  • Develop, test and maintain disaster recovery technologies and procedures.
  • Participate in on call rotation
  • Capability to work independently and self-motivate

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 2 year degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field strongly preferred
  • 1-3 certifications in related technologies preferred
  • 3-5 plus years of relevant technical experience working in large scale Windows and virtualization environments
  • A technically strong individual with 3-5 years of knowledge of healthcare IS solutions strongly desired
  • Able to translate information technology jargon into terms understandable by all audiences
