Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

The Manager EHR Training provides leadership as an EHR education expert and defines the EHR Training program strategy in collaboration with organizational leadership. In collaboration with the VP of Clinical Informatics and the CMIO, the EHR Training Manager drives organizational training decisions. Serves as the leader for all Epic training activities and works closely with operational stakeholders to execute the training strategy. Responsible for the hiring, management, evaluation, coaching and counseling of the EHR training team.

Manages the strategy, design, planning, testing and preparation for training Vidant Health staff and providers, ensuring that all end users are fully trained prior to accessing and utilizing the system. Supervises the day to day responsibilities of the training team and develops and executes the training strategy to include the development and optimization of the course curriculum, as well as the creation and execution of both the Super User and Credentialed Trainer programs. The EHR training manager oversees MST build and ensures a robust training domain that supports workflow based curriculum that meets key stakeholder requirements.


  • Defines the EHR Training strategy for both clinical and non-clinical staff. Leverages knowledge of industry leading trends to build and maintain a state of the art training program for Vidant Health

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of educational materials including manuals, Bulletins, Tip Sheets, and other   methods of training delivery and communication/education

  • Responsible to manage, evaluate, report, and utilize data and information related to learners regarding effectiveness of the educational program

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates educational curricula and educational technologies to meet learners needs. Develops, implements, and oversees purposeful rounding including monitoring metrics for the EHR training program

Minimum Requirements

Education, Certifications or Licenses:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing, information technology, allied health professions, business or a related field required.
  • Masters degree in Education or Instructional Design preferred.
  • Epic certification preferred.


  • 3 years experience as an EHR Training Manager in a large multi-facility health system preferred.
  • 2 years experience overseeing and conducting MST build preferred.
