Position Summary

The EAP counselor will provide a full range of clinical services including assessments, short term counseling, referral, crisis intervention, EAP orientations and well-being workshops to team members and their eligible family members. Additionally, the EAP counselor will provide management and leadership consultation and coaching, and other EAP organizational interventions.

The EAP Counselor will:

  • Provide face-to-face and/or video clinical assessments, crisis intervention, brief solutions-focused counseling, referrals to treatment or other outside community resources, and ongoing follow-up for Vidant team members and their eligible family members.
  • Provide expert organizational and management consultation to supervisors, managers and leaders.
  • Provide critical incident response services and/or emotional first aid following traumatic or disruptive events.
  • Provide program promotion activities through department visits, team member orientations and training to leaders.
  • Design and conduct emotional well-being training workshops and presentations on various topics.
  • Travel as required.
  • Rotating on call as needed.

Skill Set:

  • Experience providing counseling to children and couples

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Self-motivated, highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a strong team player

  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Able to cultivate healthy workplace and build morale

  • Public speaking skills and experience

  • Knowledge of and experience in the use of a variety of counseling modalities, knowledgeable in community resources; basic knowledge of human resources practices and policies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Experience using electronic medical record and maintaining accurate clinical records per licensure standards

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters Degree, Licensed Major:  Psychology, Social Work, MFT or other mental health field

  • LMFT, LPC, LCSW, PhD licensure required.

  • Two to three years experience in short-term counseling or therapy experience in a clinical mental health setting or a substance abuse treatment center

Preferred Requirements:

  • 2 years or more of recent experience as an Employee Assistance Professional

  • CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional) certification preferred
