About the Outer Banks Hospital

The Outer Banks Hospital, located in Nags Head, North Carolina, is a full service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital opened in March 2002 and is one of the newest hospitals in eastern North Carolina. The hospital's 21 private rooms are designed to meet the needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season. The labor and delivery area consists of two labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms, a five-bed nursery, a dedicated caesarean-section operating room and a triage room.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates Effective Leadership Ability.
  • Excels in empowering and developing staff.
  • Demonstrates Effective Critical thinking skills.
  • Identifies and responds to situations that interfere with effective customer service delivery.
  • Demonstrates Cooperation with internal customers (physicians, staff, peers).
  • Demonstrates Cooperation with external customers (patients, visitors, physicians).
  • Responsible for Budget development process for areas of oversight.
  • Department Demonstrates Operational Efficiency by utilizing volume and staffing resources.
  • Formulates departmental goals that are consistent with the hospital’s mission, vision, values, goals and objectives and plans.
  • Implements, monitors and evaluates progress towards established goals.
  • Utilizes the results of performance improvement to further provide quality service.
  • Maintains adequate staffing levels in department.
  • Hires the ‘right’ people.
  • Completes Performance Appraisals.
  • Recognizes Employee Efforts and Achievements.
  • Manages financial month End-Closing according to established departmental procedures.
  • Maintain General Ledger Accounts by reconciling with PeopleSoft General Ledger monthly.
  • Responsible for year-end closing of General Ledger and supply necessary information for annual audit.
  • Prepare and provides financial reports and statistical information monthly.
  • Responsible for managing bi-weekly payroll process.
  • Oversees the accounts payable functions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
  • Three to five years accounting experience.  Previous experience in healthcare setting, preferably a hospital.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous management experience.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Kronos, Microsoft Excel are strongly preferred.

  • This is a full-time, benefit eligible, exempt position.
