Vidant Duplin Hospital is an 81-bed facility located in Kenansville, North Carolina and has 20 practicing physicians on its active medical staff. Vidant Duplin serves Duplin County and surrounding communities in Eastern North Carolina with a population of approximately 60,000 people. On an annually basis, it serves 3,800 inpatients and over 52,000 outpatients (including nearly 30,0000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 2,050.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the senior leadership, the Dir, Accounting- Controller manages and executes the various accounting department activities for the assigned Company; including general accounting, accounts payable, payroll and business office. Responsible for supervision, scheduling, training and personnel management.

Essential Job Functions

 Financial month end closing Manages financial month end closing according to established departmental procedures. Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling with PeopleSoft general ledger monthly, including reconciliation and balancing of all accounts. Prepare and provides financial reports and statistical information monthly. Reviews all monthly journal entries. Provides budget variance explanations. Researches solutions to balancing issues. Educates and assists department managers in DOR analysis. Ensures the accuracy of fixed asset records. Supervises the entry of additions, transfers and disposals of fixed assets to the fixed asset system, reconciling to the general ledger on a monthly basis. Prepares and maintains depreciation schedules for plant, property and equipment.

 

Assists with Annual Projects

Responsible for year-end closing of general ledger. Supply necessary information for annual audit, tax return and cost report preparation. Coordinates the taking of physical inventories and general ledger adjustments. Assists in preparation for Capital and Operating budgets.

Minimum Position Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance with a concentration in Accounting is required Minimum of 5 years accounting experience is required.

Previous experience in healthcare setting, preferably a hospital Financial Reporting / Financial Analysis / Cost Accounting / Budget experience strongly recommended

Proficient in Microsoft applications Excellent interactive, communication and people skills.

Preferred Requirements

Master's degree in accounting or finance or CPA license preferred.

CPA preferred.

Experience with PeopleSoft preferred
