Position Summary

A relationship builder and versatile communicator who is excellence driven, focused on solutions and is passionate about high-quality outcomes, the Digital Content Specialist is a seasoned strategist, creative thinker and storyteller. Understanding the value of communications, this team member effectively tells the overarching Vidant Health story in a compelling way that drives engagement, awareness and change among different stakeholders.


  • Generates high quality, engaging digital content that drives conversions through the creation of targeted, multi-media content from concept to execution for all platforms and audiences
  • Translates complex ideas and topics for internal and external audiences in relatable ways
  • Works in partnership and collaboration with leadership and team members to mine, gather, write, edit and strategically promote accurate and timely content to internal and external audiences; interacts regularly with team members, clinicians, researchers, providers and administrators
  • Develops content across traditional and digital platforms, including websites, mobile, e-newsletters, landing pages, social media, email marketing, online advertisements, digital signage, blogs, etc.
  • Plans and develops video content of all formats (words, videos, presentations/webinars, audio and images); oversees style, brand standards and appearance across online content channels in partnership with the Communications Team
  • Creates, manages, organizes and coordinates a content production calendar, increasing digital engagement
  • Researches and understands audiences and uses this information to repurpose and target content accordingly
  • Administers the CMS platform(s); establishes guidelines and protocols for content management
  • Generates and maintains content on the external website and performs web content updates as needed; performs quality and brand standard checks on all content and keeps content timely and consistent
  • Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, distributing and reading current literature, conducting and participating in meetings
  • Collaborates with team members on internal and external communications tasks and projects, as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications or Public Relations
  • Three to four years of professional experience required
  • Proven results in developing and implementing digital communications. Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal), with experience in editorial judgment, branded content understanding, experience and technical skills. Working knowledge of market dynamics, current marketing/communications principles, digital, social and traditional formats required. Experience working with website content management systems. Creative mindset to problem solving and communication tactics. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in and support a matrix relationship with dual (system and care site) accountability.
  • Practical knowledge of AP style
