About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with staff from patient care units, Clinical Nutrition staff and other employees and patients through demonstrating appropriate telephone courtesy and manners to ensure appropriate customer relations and one on one direct verbal communication.
  • Visit patients to ensure patient satisfaction, and communicates information to appropriate personnel to improve the patients' satisfaction.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Records all patient related information on the phone message log, completing all sections of the log with necessary information.
  • Count and record diet census information and tube feeding information daily.
  • Generates Tally reports and distributes to Food Production area.
  • Tallies late trays and total trays served per meal.
  • Performs all functions in CBORD to ensure that the following are correct: Patient Diet Orders, Food Allergies, and Preferences.
  • Nourishments, Enteral Products, Menu selections.
  • Compare SMS Diet Office to diet orders in CBORD when on duty in AM. Input Food and Drug information.
  • Generates from CBORD hostess round sheets, production sheets, nourishment labels, tube feeding labels and sheets, tray slips, and menus.
  • Notifies Food Production of additional food items added to meal service prior to the meal.
  • Involved in training Diet Clerks, Dietetic Interns and other department personnel concerning day to day diet office functions.
  • Request forms and materials in appropriate amounts needed for the day to day operations of the Diet Office.
  • Has an overall understanding of food permitted on therapeutic diets.
  • Correctly file information maintained in diet office. 

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 months to 1 year working as a Food Service Technician or experience in other communication or administrative support positions required.
  • Good computer and clerical skills; ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner; customer service orientation 

Other Information

  • 1 full time vacancy, hours will be 5:15 am - 1:45 pm or 12 noon - 8:30 pm.
