Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Diagnostic department at Vidant Medical Center performs over 11,000 procedures per month.  The Radiology department performs over 225,000 procedures a year.  Radiology employs over 275 employees.

  •  Exhibits competency in relation to performance in all radiography and fluoroscopy procedures and equipment for given level.
  • Accurately explains all procedures and exams to the patient and family members
  • Addresses patients’ family members appropriately and involves them in plan of care.
  • Respects patient privacy by protecting patient’s modesty and dignity throughout procedure.
  • Patient information is kept confidential
    • Understands and incorporates the policies of HIPPA into daily work habits
    • Patient information is kept confidential outside of work environment.
  • Communicates with patients for proper identification (Follow Employees Statement of Red Rules commitment.)
  • Demonstrates the full range of procedures reflecting appropriate patient care and knowledge for   patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric
  • Documents all pertinent information as pertains to patients’ past and current Medical History
  • Assists Radiologist with procedures and administers contrast media in accordance to protocols and supervision of Radiologist.
  • Assess patient’s current medical status to evaluate changes that require immediate medical intervention.
  • Maintain a teamwork approach with other staff members.
  • Charge for procedures, contrast, and patient supplies while maintaining operating expenses. 
  • Understands and abide by departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Attends 8 departmental staff meeting a year. Participates in continuing education through in-service and meetings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the departmental dress code and maintaining a stocked, clean work environment.
  • Has an understanding and realizes the importance of JCAHO standards.
  • Demonstrates proper radiation safety for patient, self and others within procedure.
  • The technologist demonstrates the ability to accept supervision and ask for assistance when necessary
  • The technologist shows evidence of actively learning and gaining experience
  • The technologist identifies learning needs and contracts through performance appraisal for on-going performance improvement.
  • The technologist performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Current R.T. R. certification by ARRT required.
  • Associate Degree preferred.

Other Information

  • PRN -  every 3rd weekend from 2:30p-11:00p and occassional weeknights (other hours as needed)
