  • Communicates effectively with co-workers and staff through demonstration of excellent customer service skills including courtesy and manners.
  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by customer, and prepares food according to recipe and instructions.
  • Will perform fast food preparations for immediate service to customers.
  • Follows standardized recipes and/or product directions for prepping, preparing, seasoning and garnishing foods. Will taste all products prior to serving the customer.
  • Prepares foods for culinary use by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to: measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, slice,and trim fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry or fish.
  • Reads menus and follows production records in order to correctly requisition supplies and consistently produce high quality, accurate products in large volumes. Maintains accurate HACCP records for food safety.
  • Will use standardized recipes to prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.
  • Will maintain safe food environment through practice and knowledge of temperature danger zone, food bone illness, correct cook to temperatures and shelf life of food items.
  • Will clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.  Must follow all regulatory rules and regulations regarding PPE and SDS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent is required. 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English (Bilingual in Spanish is preferred)
  • Experience:
  • Knowledge and Skills-- Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner, Must be able to multitask and maintain a positive attitude. Basic culinary skills appropriate for the position. Must be able to read, comprehend and follow standardized recipes. Good working knowledge of food preparation. Experience with institutional kitchen equipment and in large volume food preparation.
  • Attitude- Must have a positive and upbeat personality with excellent customer service skills. Must be able maintain a positive attitude while functioning under pressure.
  • Physical--  Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 6  hours); Specific physical characteristics and abilities required: agility, dexterity and long periods of walking (up to 6 hours), standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to complete and maintain a Serve Safe Certification within the 1st year of employment is preferred but not required.
  • 1 to 3 years experience is a healthcare setting is preferred.
