Position Summary

  • Assess patients nutritional status according to VIDANT MEDICAL CENTER standards and develops appropriate nutritional care plans
  • Maintains accurate records of activities.
  • Assists in patient diet education.
  • Participates in department quality improvement activities.
  • Assists with on-the-job training and education of new dietitians, diet techs and interns/students. 
  • Performs other tasks as requested.
  • Maintains professional requirements (licensure, certification, and practice area competence).
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) including assessment and education, developing, monitoring, and implementing MNT for patients on assigned units
  • Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education. Develops, evaluates and utilizes appropriate education materials for patients. Learning needs are identified using methods appropriate to each patient’s developmental and educational level; evaluates and documents learner response to teaching
  • Completes consults as ordered. Communicates with physicians, nurses, clinical dietitians and others to coordinate nutrition into a total patient therapy program
  • Orients, mentors, and trains team members and dietetic interns, students as applicable.

Preferred Requirements

  • Ability to cover Intensive Care Units is preferred.

  • Day Shift.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
