Position Summary

The Chief Audit & Compliance Officer will report directly to the CEO or designee.

The Chief Audit & Compliance Officer (CACO) is responsible for oversight and management of the audit and compliance department for the healthcare system, affiliated medical groups, management services organizations, and ancillary entities. The CACO will provide oversight of the organization’s compliance program which includes policies and procedures, training and education, auditing and monitoring, providing input on investigations and corrective actions, responding to payor audits and government inspections, tracking regulatory deadlines, and reporting. This role is responsible for chairing the organizations Compliance Steering Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Position provides advisory services to the Executive Staff, Board of Directors, Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board, and Compliance Steering Committee on matters related to compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Oversees the development, implementation, and revision of policies, procedures and practices to meet regulatory standards and provide guidance to workforce on preventing illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.

  • Collaborates to develop and track effective compliance training programs, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.

  • Provides oversight of the organization’s internal and compliance audit programs. Oversees the development of risk analyses, annual audit plans, and audit activities by outside professional firms, as well as corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues.

  • Provides oversight and management of the compliance hotline. Monitors a log/tracking systems for all Confidential Disclosures through the hotline.

  • Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.

  • Consults with the internal and external Legal Counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues.

  • Oversee administrative and budgetary responsibilities for the Office of Audit and Compliance.

  • Prepares quarterly reports to the Board of Directors and the CEO detailing compliance initiatives throughout the year as well as recommends improvements/changes in the overall compliance program.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree

  • Masters degree or higher Strongly Preferred

  • Certifications preferred

  • At least 8 to 10 years of Compliance experience with oversight of Compliance, Privacy and Audit

  • Experience managing staff

  • Work at a Multi-facility

  • Experience presenting to Board

  • Chair Compliance/Steering Committee
