Vidant Duplin Hospital is an 81-bed facility located in Kenansville, North Carolina and has 20 practicing physicians on its active medical staff. Vidant Duplin serves Duplin County and surrounding communities in Eastern North Carolina with a population of approximately 60,000 people. On an annually basis, it serves 3,800 inpatients and over 52,000 outpatients (including nearly 30,0000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 2,050.

Position Summary

  • The Registered Nurse provides professional, holistic nursing care for patients across the lifespan that is safe, cost-effective, and exemplary of health care quality standards.
  • A RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates population-specific nursing care for patients in his/her assigned unit or clinical setting(s).
  • RNs provide care that is grounded in mutually beneficial partnerships with patients and families.
  • RNs behave in a manner consistent with the professional practice standards, state Nurse Practice Act, and Code of Ethics adopted by the nursing profession.
  • RNs are involved in appropriate delegation of patient care tasks, clinical decision-making, evaluation of treatment efficacy, goal-directed care planning, and patient and family education.

Minimum Requirements

  • Non-violent crisis intervention training must be completed within first 30 days of employment
  • Leadership experience.
  • Associate Degree or Diploma is required.
  • 2 - 4 years RN experience is required.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required.
  • American Heart Basic Life Support is required.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet the twenty four (24) hour needs of the patients.
  • Possess organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
  • Maintains stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications.

Preferred Requirements

  • Baccalaureate educational preparation (BSN) is preferred; required by year 2025.

Other Information

  • Full time with benefits
  • 40 hours a week (two 12 hour and two 8 hour shifts)
  • Day and night positions available
