About the Outer Banks Hospital

Located in the beautiful coastal town of Nags Head, NC. The Outer Banks Hospital offers high-quality care in a compassionate environment—it’s what we’re known for on the Outer Banks.

We opened in March 2002 as a joint venture between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Our facility includes eighteen acute care medical-surgical beds, two labor and delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, a level II nursery bed, a designated caesarian section room, three operating rooms, outpatient and diagnostic services along with a 24-hour emergency department. Affiliated with The Outer Banks Hospital is The Outer Banks Medical Group (a Vidant Medical Group partner) which is comprised of eight physician practices.

As a community hospital, we offer a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. We meet the health care needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to 250,000 in the summer months.

Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for handling administrative tasks and performs diverse duties for nursing department.  Also provides specific basic nursing care to patients, under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Can promptly and accurately order lab work, radiology procedures, cardiopulmonary, consults and dietary orders utilizing SMS system.

  • Can promptly and accurately transcribe physician orders utilizing SMS systems, MAR and patient charts.

  • Accurately files diagnostic reports (lab, radiology, etc) in medical record. Reports are filed in a timely manner.

  • Maintains unit logs and enters patient charges in timely and accurate manner.

  • Accurately assembles new charts/chart packs as needed. Breaks down discharge/old charts accurately and in timely fashion.

  • Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.

  • Greets and directs patients, visitors and staff in courteous manner.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

CNAI – Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of Nursing Assistant Course, current certification as CNAI in the state of North Carolina, current listing on the CNAI Registry with the Department of Facility Services. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider status is required upon hire. 

CNAII – Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of Nursing Assistant II Course, current certification as CNAII in the state of North Carolina, current listing on the CNAII Registry with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider status is required upon hire. 

Experience:

Knowledge of computer and other office equipment required.  Ability to manage numerous projects and set priorities.  Ability to maintain confidentiality.  Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant and a CPR certification.

 

Other Information

This is a PRN position, there are no guaranteed hours.

Hours are based on the needs of the department.

This position is not eligible for benefits.
