Position Summary

The SIU population consists of trauma and emergent general surgery patients who remain acutely ill but no longer require an ICU. This include the following but not limited to:

  • Multisystem trauma
  • Isolated trauma
  • Respiratory insufficiency, including ventilator patients
  • Cardiac Arrhythmia
  • Complex fluid and medication management
  • Single and/or Multisystem injury complications
  • Complex wounds
  • Transplant Patients
  • Services also include patient education related to surgical procedures, disease processes, diagnostic procedures and trach care.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines such as Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Unit based Case Management and Social Work.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Active NAI listing with the North Carolina Division of Facility Services
  • Active NAII listing with North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider is required through American Heart Association.
