Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

Coordinates outreach network program development and maintenance in order to effectively meet customer needs.Communicates effectively with Cancer Center, affiliate physicians/staff, county health departments and the American Cancer Society, as well as cancer care consumers within the Cancer Center Outreach network service area.  Maintains financial accountability.  Supports all aspects of clinical research.  Coordinates education for Outreach staff, patients/families, students and the public.

  • Participates in Outreach program development and strategic planning process.
  • Facilitates and implements Outreach program policies and procedures, formulated in collaboration with the Cancer Center Administrator and Associate Director, Outreach.
  • Continuously monitors local and regional cancer market and implements programs based on needs of outreach affiliates.
  • Assures compliance with regulatory agencies in collaboration with Cancer Center and affiliate physicians and staff.
  • Implements and evaluates aspects of program goals and outcomes.
  • Identifies human and material resources needed for effective daily operations.
  • Accountable for ongoing program evaluation.
  • Utilizes and implements national standards in delivering cancer care.
  • Assist with the development of CCC designation as defined by the American College of Surgeons.
  • Implements high quality cost effective cancer services along the continuum based on the outreach needs.
  • Gathers feedback from affiliates for input into Cancer Center's new program/services.
  • Assists with the recruitment of outreach physicians/staff.
  • Promotes community and professional awareness of outreach program.
  • Integrates outreach program and community through market identification by developing needed services.
  • Enhances ongoing relationships with community organizations and county health department to identify opportunities for cancer control, prevention and education, and assist implementation of strategies to focus on each of these areas.
  • Responsible for working with financial services, accounting and/or Medical Faculty Practice Plan areas of the hospital, ECU or affiliate institutions related to Outreach patient insurance issues and program financial issues.
  • Anticipates budgetary needs and communicates them in a timely manner to the Cancer Center Administrator.
  • Adheres to Outreach budget.
  • Encourages and supports the Cancer Center's involvement with national and other clinical trails and research protocols.
  • Supports clinical research activities by participating in seeking grant sources and grant writing.
  • Assures ongoing assessment of educational needs.
  • Communicates with affiliate staff as appropriate, related to important Outreach program administrative information, e.g. policy, budget, affiliate membership/clinic operations issues, etc.
  • Collaboratively coordinates upcoming teaching rounds and seminars benefiting patients/families, physicians/medical staff members, and the general public served in within the Outreach network.
  • Identifies educational needs of the regional primary care physicians and their staff related to cancer services and support to care for patients returned to their communities for follow-up.

Minimum Requirements

  •  BS in nursing or other health related field.
  • Current RN licensure required.
  • OCN preferred.
  • 3 to 4 years work experience required.
  • Experience in coordinating multisite operations in a medical environment and in oncology is preferred.
