The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Position Summary

The Radiology Supervisor is responsible for the overall operations of the department which includes orientation, special training, and assessing competency for all new and old trainees. The position also assumes responsibility for the quality control/quality assurance portion of the department and modifies and delivers care that is specific to the age, growth and level of development of patients including adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Provides age specific direct patient care according to unit scope of service. Exhibits competency in unit scope studies.
Demonstrates proper safety and dose techniques.
Capable of explaining the procedure to the patient. Consideration is given to the patients comfort during the procedure and understanding of their emotional response when the procedure has been completed.
Obtains history and informed consent as necessary; records pertinent clinical history and creatinine. Incorporates patient safety in all aspects of care (use of equipment and maintains safe environment).
Demonstrates knowledge of standard precautions, transmission of infection and routinely and consistently utilizes measures to reduce the spread of bacteria.
Reviews/revises protocols.

Participates in quality assessments & improvement activities. Changes practice behavior as a result of quality improvement data. Identifies opportunities for improvement.
Participates in problem resolution activities.
Conducts medical audit and outcomes analysis studies. Carries out quality assurance focused studies.
Responsible for darkroom quality control tests at specified intervals; documents any corrective actions or repair.

Participates in education of self and others.
Attends continuing education programs to meet unit/individual objectives. Shares knowledge gained.
Fulfills mandatory requirements annually.
Maintains competencies described in initial orientation and annual competency plan. Serves as a resource to students.
Assumes responsibility for precepting new employees. Provides emotional support during orientation. Coordinates training of personnel requiring special functions.

Provides Leadership
Maintain a high level of technical skills to regularly and proficiently perform and teach all of the area procedures and act as technical resource for staff. Develop and implement new procedures as directed.
Demonstrates skills in priority setting, delegation and supervision. Demonstrates effective interpersonal relations and communication skills
Collaborate, communicate and problem solve regularly with other team leaders in all divisions of the department and establish ongoing lines of communication with other departments through meetings and discussions. Participate in quality assurance/quality control programs as appropriate.
Investigates incidents and problems as they occur and makes recommendations for corrective action to the department manager.
Assists the department manager in planning and implementing new programs.
Regularly foresees potential problem situations and interviews to offset adverse impact; demonstrates a proactive attitude and ability to exercise independent judgment.
Acts as the Radiology representative when dealing with other departments and the public.
Keep abreast of changes in State and Federal regulations and current practices in the field. Communicate the need to change or modify sections or departmental policies and procedures to maintain compliance as necessary.
Ensure that adequate area supply levels are maintained and that equipment failures are reported and documented. May perform the duties of the manager in his/her absence.

Minimum Requirements

5 Years of CT experience required
Associate Degree
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required

Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff
Project positive behavior to department staff, team members and guests as evidenced by direct observation and feedback from others.
Individual should have high energy with the ability to organize/prioritize workload.
Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Ability to function as a team member and execute the desired outcomes
Must exhibit creative, positive problem-solving abilities
Ability to foster collaboration between multiple parties
Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts to groups
Ability to think conceptually and apply concepts in a practical application

Other Information

Must have 5 years of CT experience.

Position is 40 hours per week days, Monday-Friday with call rotation
