Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized tasks associated with operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  • Acts as charge technologist and maintains patient flow on multiple CT scanners.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, appropriate labeling and transmit to PACS.
  • Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
  • Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Correctly identifies patient, communicates with patients to obtain history and their cooperation during exam.
  • Maintain accurate patient records on log sheets, this includes type, amount, lot # and expiration dates of contrast media.
  • Assists radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's and administers correct dosages of contrast material.
  • Assist Radiologist with interventional procedures.
  • Assists with precepting student technologists, staff technologists and residents as required.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for CT procedures.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned. Charge procedures, contrast and supplies as appropriate to procedures being performed. Demonstrate the ability to identify cross sectional anatomy and distinguish normal from abnormal for all procedures. Demonstrate proficiency in performing all exam protocols.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 1 - 2 years of formal training/education.
  • Current Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (R) (CT) 
  • CPR Certification.
  • IV certification within 6 weeks of hire.
  • A minimum one year previous experience in Radiology preferred
