About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Completes performance, assurance and safety inspections on equipment.
  •  Maintains and repairs all Biomedical equipment: Performs maintenance and repairs on Biomedical equipment involved in patient diagnosis or treatment, as well as, a variety of non-Biomedical systems such as computers and communication systems; troubleshoots sources of equipment malfunctions.
  •  Assembles and installs a variety of new Biomedical and non-Biomedical equipment and calibrates equipment to assure operating performance within manufacturer and institutional standards.
  •  Provides in-service training on all medical equipment: Provides in-service education to hospital personnel and physicians on the proper use and routine maintenance of equipment.
  •  Maintains proper documentation in compliance with TJC and other regulatory agencies: Develops, maintains, and is responsible for all aspects of documentation as to comply with TJC and other regulatory agencies.
  •  Takes call as needed: May be scheduled to be on call for the Biomedical Department. Is available 24 hours a day and capable of handling all situations that may arise.
  •  Performs maintenance and repairs on medical equipment at outside facilities as needed: Performs work for all Vidant Health facilities. This may include traveling and overnight stays.
  •  Performs maintenance and repairs on medical equipment at outside facilities through VMC: This includes all work performed for ECU and private physician offices
  •  Actively participates in Guest Relations: Demonstrates appropriate, caring behavior in the work place - treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
  •  Maintains a clean work environment. 

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent, 2 or more years of formal training or education with an advanced diploma or associate degree in electronic technology, electronic servicing, computer engineering, or biomedical engineering.
  •  Additional experience may be substituted for up to one year of education; additional education may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
  •  3-4 years experience as a Biomedical Technician, Electronics Technician, Computer Technician or other related field.
  •   Valid NC Drivers License required.
