Position Summary

The Bereavement Coordinator will be in charge of organizing and coordinating a bereavement program for the families of Hospice patients. Must have the ability to work autonomously, as well as with interdisciplinary team. Must have the ability to coordinate and direct work volunteers.


  • Evaluation of bereavement needs of families through initial assessment of patient and families in order to identify their needs and assist in setting goals for assessed needs.
  • Work as a member of the Hospice team
  • Demonstrates a commitment to excellence in patient and staff relations.
  • Contributes to continuous quality improvement.
  • Functions as a member of the patient care team.
  • Maintains safe environment for employees, visitors, patients.
  • Participates in educational programs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 2 -3 years experience is required
  • HeartSaver certification is required
  • Valid NC driver's license is required
  • Must have required insurance limits
  • Frequent travel throughout the Vidant service area

Other Information

  • Graduate of accredited Seminary strongly preferred
  • Ordained minister strongly preferred
