About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • This individual will be trained to assist applicants in enrolling for services under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 as amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 which are collectively referred to as the Affordable Care Act.  This individual will also be teaching specified Vidant staff about the ACA and soliciting volunteer assistors.
  • This individual must successfully complete the required training and exams for the Navigator curriculum on the Medicare Learning Network within 2 weeks of start date.

During Open Enrollment, responsibilities include:

  • Assisting consumers with enrolling and purchasing health insurance through the Marketplace.
  • Organizing and conducting outreach activities where consumers are informed of their rights and responsibilities under the Affordable Care Act.
  • Assisting consumers with appeals, exemptions, and assisting with individual issues where the systems has not yet been programmed to fit all contingencies.

After the open enrollment responsibilities include

  • Assisting consumers with appeals, exemptions and assisting with individual issues where the system has not yet been programmed to fit all contingencies.
  • Assisting consumers who have a qualifying event with enrolling and purchasing health insurance through the Marketplace.
  • Organizing and conducting outreach activities where consumers are informed their rights and responsibilities under the Affordable Care Act.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 2 years or more of formal training/education required. Prefer degree in business, health care, or related.
  • 1 - 3 years relevant experience in healthcare required. Prefer experience in the areas of case management, patient/client relations, insurance, doctors office, business office.
  • An additional two years of education in healthcare or business may be substituted for the required experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for additional 2 years of formal education.

  • 1 full time vacancy, days.
  • Position is grant funded for one year.
