The Assistant Manager holds a position of line authority. Under the direction of the Manager, the Assistant Manager is delegated certain responsibilities and authority for managing a cluster of perioperative, OR, CSR, PACU, SDS, GI, Preadmissions, Pain Clinic. Among these responsibilities are coordinating evaluating and improving the standards of care. By utilizing leadership skills, the Assistant Manager assists the Manager in promoting safe, cost effective, quality patient care.

Minimum Requirements 

  • The employee must hold a current license to practice as a RN in the State of North Carolina, and have a minimum of two years of perioperative work experience.

  • BSN required and previous management experience is preferred.

  • The employee must demonstrate leadership skills in effective organization, initiative, problem solving, effective communication, responsibility and stress management.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to exercise good judgment, appropriate delegation of tasks, work effectively with others and provide technical training to others.

  • BCLS is required.

  • ACLS is preferred, must be obtained with in six months of hire.

  • Certification in perioperative nursing is a plus. Must be efficient in emergency management of patient care situations.

  • Must be competent or achieve competency in all areas of responsibility, (Central Sterile reprocessing, pre op phase of care, intra op phase of care, and post op phase of care and Endoscopy and Pain clinic); as well as management. 

  • Must have strong organizational skills and be flexible to meet the volume and departmental demands, must be able to multi task and prioritize work activities. 

  • Must be self-directed to achieve dept. goals, manage finances, staffing assignments, supply management, quality care, patient satisfaction and to meet requirements of regulatory agencies and Joint Commission.

  • Requires competencies to meet the immediate needs of the depts., scrubbing, assisting, circulating, staffing other areas as needed, and providing direct oversight and leadership for departments of responsibility. 

  • Will serve as acting manager in manager's absence.

Preferred Requirements 

  • Previous management experience preferred.

Other Information

  • Will require call rotation as needed to meet the department needs.
  • Must have on call response time of 15-20 minutes.
