The Pharmacy Department at Vidant Medical Center is made up of over 200 employees who are committed to providing excellent patient care by assuming ownership of the medication use process. In order to meet the needs of our growing system, the Department of Pharmacy Services at Vidant Medical Center remains progressive clinically, technologically and academically. We currently provide unit-based and service-based decentralized pharmacy services in a variety of inpatient areas including adult and pediatric medicine, cardiology, critical care and emergency medicine.
Innovative technology remains at the core of our commitment to patient safety. We continue to maximize our use of EPIC through essential elements such as CPOE, clinical decision support, MyChart and telemedicine initiatives. Additionally, we are collaborating with our regional partners to standardize practices that enable us to provide high quality and cost-effective care throughout our region to support growth and sustainability.
Academically, we enjoy healthy working relationships with the schools of pharmacy at the University of North Carolina and Campbell University and provide a wide variety of student training experiences through IPPE and APPE rotational offerings. Student precepting opportunities are available for residents on many rotations.
Assistant Director for Clinical Pharmacy Services - Vidant Medical Center Department of Pharmacy is searching for an exceptional individual to lead our Clinical Services. The Assistant Director for Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient-focused services for patients in medicine, critical care, cardiology, emergency medicine, and behavioral health and rehabilitation units. Primary responsibilities include direct supervision for two pharmacy supervisors, coordination and recruiting of pharmacy personnel in decentralized areas, and development of critical metrics to evaluate accuracy, safety and cost effectiveness of clinical services. The Assistant Director for Clinical Pharmacy Services also participates in strategic planning, as well as budgetary development and implementation for the pharmacy. Additional roles include advocating for expansion of pharmacy learner involvement in patient care, facilitating professional growth and development of staff, and interfacing with hospital and departmental leadership to further pharmacy’s role in direct patient care.
This successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be adept with change management and have experience successfully leading a clinical department in a large academic health care facility.
North Carolina Pharmacy license required
5 or more years hospital pharmacy leadership experience
