Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of work assignment for CS/SPD staff.
  • Responsible for the ordering and restocking of supply areas.
  • Function as a preceptor for new staff and as a mentor for all staff.
  • Assist with management and control of equipment distribution utilizing the SMS and SPM equipment distribution system.
  • Assist with the management and distribution of trays, instruments and case carts to OR utilizing SPM tracking system.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and provide feedback and training to correct the deficiencies.
  • Assist with the financial goals of the department.
  • Monitor the workflow of an assigned area.
  • Enforce the facility and departmental policy and procedures. Function in the role of a charge person in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
  • Liaison between CS/SPD and OR Setups, Labor and Delivery, Radiology, assigned area and customers.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • Certification as Central Service Technician (must acquire within 12 months of assuming position).
  • 3 - 4 years experience in Central Services and Sterile Processing, working in the Operating Room or as a Surgical Technician required.

  • 1 full time vacancy, hours will be 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm.
